This farm has been managed for four years.  Within two years we started seeing mature (3 ˝ yr. old) bucks.  The buck:doe ratio also improved from around 5:1 to about 2.5:1.  Our management plan included supplemental feeding, food plots and most importantly, passing on 1 ˝ yr. old bucks.  We also continued harvesting does.  A small ˝ - 1 acre cedar thicket is being planted to create a “sanctuary” or bedding area to hold more deer on the property.  This will take several years to grow, but is well worth it.  There are also several small clover plots to supplement neighboring corn and soybeans, as well as add protein value during antler growth.  Supplemental feeders are used on a limited basis throughout the year.
